Growing up in a loving family is often taken for granted - it's considered normal. However, when we grow up and become adults, we realize that - looking around - there are others who were not as fortunate.

Young Andrew knows this very well. Andrew is a 12-year-old boy from Nashville, Tennessee (United States), who spent half of his young life in foster care, dreaming of finding an adoptive family who would love and look after him. His story is an example of how life can be really unpredictable at times.

Andrew was placed in foster care with the Gill family, where he immediately made friends with Joc - his own age. With him Andrew shared a passion for video games and sweets and, as the weeks went by, the two became best friends. Joc's parents, Kevin and Dominique Gill, noticed the bond between Joc and Andrew and approved.

The couple enjoyed Andrew's presence: "He's a very sweet and polite boy! It's impossible not to love him", commented Dominique. The affection born between the young man and the Gill family made the couple decide to change his life forever. They applied to adopt Andrew.

As much as he wanted to, Andrew never had the courage to ask the Gills to adopt him. Then, one day, Andrew got a huge surprise: "I opened the door and found them all standing there ", said the young man, beaming at the news. Immediately after stepping inside, the Gills asked Andrew a question: "Would you like to be our son?". The young man accepted with extreme happiness, embracing his adoptive parents and his best friend and now-brother, Joc.

The whole family celebrated the moment with photos, a cake and everything needed to mark the long-awaited event for little Andrew. We can onlywish this family all the best for the future.
