Man installs a video camera in his hotel room: he discovers a cleaner going through his things
When traveling, you need to pay close attention to the places you visit as personal safety should always be the first priority for any responsible traveller. A tourist is an easy target, so one should never let one's guard down. Even when you're in a hotel - a place that should be safe - you need to take precautions. For example, one should be vigilant about the staff that enter your hotel room to do the cleaning. There are those who, like the subject of this story, use technology to catch dishonest hotel cleaning staff.
Arturo Brunello decided to use technology to solve the mystery of a number of thefts that had taken place in a hotel where he was staying. The young man decided to activate the camera on his laptop to catch anyone who tried to rummage through his things while he was out. The camera would only activate if someone entered the room. A hotel employee - one of the room cleaners - is filmed entering Arturo's room and rummaging through his things. Luckily, the cleaner stole nothing but a beer from the room's minibar, but this was still a violation of a customer's privacy. The video was posted to TikTok.
Arturo had been warned beforehand that thefts had taken place in that hotel and so he wanted to unmask the culprit.
"Be careful when you travel. This was the first time I have left a camera on and recorded while I was out. I find this alarming," stated Arturo. "Thank God, he didn't steal anything but the beer," he concluded. The hotel apparently handled the situation appropriately soon after Arturo's discovery.
