For a new parent there are many issues to be solved when a child is born, and the anxiety of not being up to the situation is certainly a concern. Fortunately, all worries gradually vanish with practice and thanks also to help from the family. A woman, however, found herself in the strange position of having to curb the enthusiasm of her mother-in-law, who had proposed that she breastfeed her newborn daughter. Having had some difficulties in breastfeeding her children, the mother-in-law proposed to "help" the daughter-in-law with this intimate task, thus being able to fulfill, at the same time, a deep-seated desire she had. Needless to say, the daughter-in-law strongly resisted this strange proposal for unsolicited, highly unusual help from her mother-in-law.

Breastfeeding is a natural and basic practice in the growth of the child and in the relationship between mother and child. Not all mothers are able to breastfeed - not so much due to a lack of milk production - but due to a progressive decrease in volume caused by a series of issue that a mother can encounter after giving birth. Even in these cases, however, suitable solutions can be applied that allow for the healthy development of a newborn. Of course, among these solutions, it is absolutely not foreseen that any solution would entail entrusting this very important task to the mother-in-law of the breast-feeding mother! Unfortunately, one woman told Reddit that she found herself in this situation when her 70-year-old mother-in-law expressed a wish to breastfeed her grandchild when the mother was having a problem doing this.

"She came up with this idea because she read that in some cultures, the grandmother helps to breastfeed babies and now she wants to try it," explained the new mother in the original post.

The idea was not even that new, and her request was not an isolated case, since the mother-in-law had also asked her to be able to breastfeed her first grandchild. In her mind, the mother-in-law wanted to create a strong bond between her two grandchildren from the moment of their birth.

“I was like, 'Absolutely not. It is really inappropriate for you to ask '", the woman recalled, adding:" Obviously all of this now falls on me and in her eyes, I am a monster ... she is mad at me because I am preventing her from having a closer bond with her grandchildren ".

Many users were baffled by this story and have pointed out that although in some cultures, grandma can help a daughter-in-law or daughter to breastfeed their grandchildren, there are substantial differences. Above all, a 70-year-old woman will not be able to produce milk at her age, having long since gone through menopause. Another user commented that they could not imagine that someone other than their wife could breastfeed their children.

In short, for most users, this mother-in-law has definitely crossed the line: do you agree?
