Many people just don't know how to take no for an answer, they are totally focused on achieving their goals, even looking for alternative solutions, subterfuges and shortcuts. Sometimes, some of these shortcuts to get around bureacracy or bans are so original that they deserve a round of applause. This is undoubtedly the case with Eric Vekeman, a man who lives in Belgium and who "fought" against the decision taken by his city council in a truly brilliant way!

Eric Vekeman, a very willing and above all very ingenious Belgian citizen, until a few years previous owned a grocery store at his privately owned house. After closing the grocery store following many years of work, Eric asked the local council if he could use the unused space as a parking space for his car, but the answer was no.

The reality behind that negative response was that the city council would not allow Eric to do the work on his premises in order to protect the urban landscape. It was at that moment, faced with that unexpected refusal, that Eric made the decision to convert his former grocery store into a new garage, functional and above all ...to do it in a way whihc the city council could not object to!

Without breaking any rules, Erick Vekeman turned his former grocery store into a garage, by hiding it in plain sight. What this ingenious man did was to make the entrance to his brand new garage look like an illuminated shop window, complete with a bench in front of the large glass window. On the surface, nothing seemed to disturbing the conformiity of the urban landscape ...

What Eric has created in an original and genial way is a "secret" garage that is hidden behind the window of the disused ex-grocery store: it takes only two minutes on the clock for the bench to be move, the window to open, install the ramp to get the car in and out in total safety, as if nothing had happened. By doing this, no one in the city administration could complained about Eric's garage. In fact, he had done everything according to the rules in force!

A real spark of genius that teaches us once again that anything is possible when an obstacle puts itself in our path, and there are no limits to human ingenuity and his unexpected works!

Well what about, congratulations on the idea, Eric!
