Khan is the name of the Doberman that the Svilicic family adopted from a dog pound! After just four days of living in its new home, the puppy had already forged a wonderful relationship with their youngest daughter who was just 17 months old.

One day while the dog and their little daughter were in their home garden in Atherton, Australia, the parents noticed that the Doberman seemed to be pulling and dragging the child on the ground. Alarmed they ran to stop him, and it was then that they realized what was really happening . . .

Khan and Charlotte were playing as they did every afternoon in the yard when the dog suddenly seized the little girl by her diaper and started dragging her. The little girl's mother intervened immediately thinking that it was an act of aggression.

But there was a snake hidden in the grass! When Khan had seen that the little girl was getting too close, he had grabbed her by her diaper. Charlotte was not bitten, but the Doberman was!

Had it not been for Khan's quick intervention the child would have been bitten. After only four days of getting to know this little girl, the Doberman has protected her, sacrificing himself. A true hero!

After being bitten on the leg Khan was taken to a vet immediately and thanks to a snake venom antidote Khan quickly recovered.

The Svilicic spouses had thought they had made a big mistake in trusting the dog and leaving it in close contact with his daughter after only four days. But they now they realize that they could not have made a better choice and if today they can still embrace their little girl is only thanks to this unexpected savior.
