"Shou sugi ban" is a Japanese technique to which natural wood is subjected to obtain a finish that is aesthetically striking, beautiful, and unique which can last up to 100 years!

The surface of the wood is charred, scraped, and then treated with a natural oil. The carbon layer that is formed is a protection against external agents and insects that might try to eat into or make their homes in the wood.

Furthermore, it is a technique that does not use any chemical products.
