We always say this and we are more and more convinced of it: it is the small gestures towards others that really change the world in which we live. Even the smallest gesture, in fact, can improve another person's day and if we all committed ourselves even just  a little to this, perhaps, we would be able to wipe out most of the negativity that surrounds us. Evoni Williams, an 18-year-old woman from La Marque, Texas (USA), made her little gesture of kindness while she was on duty as a waitress at the Waffle House, not realising anyone would notice it. Fortunately, however, that someone revealed her gesture to spread a bit of positivity and, in doing so, ensured that the girl received a truly deserved reward.

Evoni Williams, also known as "Nini", works as a waitress in a club to earn the money to pay for college. It's not easy in the United States to get a proper education if you don't have enough money, but Williams was trying hard to scrape some money together. One day, an elderly gentleman customer commented that he was no longer able to cut his own food, due to his bad hands. Although the place was full and there was plenty to do, Evoni stopped to help the elderly customer cut the food he had ordered into small pieces. She did not know that at that moment, Laura Wolf, another client, was watching and photographing the scene. The woman then posted the photo on Facebook commenting, "There was so much to do in there, but she still took the time to stop and listen to what the customer needed instead of ignoring it. This really means a lot to me".

While it may seem like a small gesture, Laura Wolf pointed out that Williams' action is an act of kindness that made her feel good, especially since the world seems to be so full of negative things. And that's why the young waitress's gesture was so impactful.

Evoni did not, in fact, expect her photo to go viral and for more than 50,000 people to comment on her act of kindness the next day. But her greatest reward was receiving a $ 16,000 scholarship, so she would have no more trouble covering her higher education costs! When she found out, she burst into tears of happiness and she stressed that she would do it again any time, any place. For her, it was a spontaneous and natural gesture towards a person in difficulty. Indeed, the mayor of the city organised a day to honor the young woman, and probably also to encourage other to do good deeds with Evoni serving as a perfect example.

If we all behaved a little more like this young waitress, perhaps the world would be a much better place!
