"If I could live life all over again, I swear I would still only want to marry her": the words of a husband dedicated to his elderly wife

Love is one of the most common and most shared feelings in human experience; there are loves that last only a short time, others that instead manage to remain vivid for a lifetime, and that like little flames never go out. If these feelings are strong, they can create a love story that will last forever; for this reason love should always be celebrated, even when one reaches the third age.

The words that were posted by Alfonso, an 82-year-old man who is very popular on Twitter, immediately made the rounds of the web for how moving they were; words dedicated to his wife, who will soon turn 80, and who Alfonso now cares for in all her fragility: a woman of her age, now elderly, with wrinkles on her face, but who in the eyes of her husband is always the same extraordinary woman whom he met when he was young and who he would not replace with anyone in the world.

Alfonso's words begin like this: "Dear friends, today I am a little restless. Now you will understand why: in these afternoons I see my María asleep on the sofa and I see her face, with some wrinkles and more. In July she will be 80 years old. I remember many things from my youth, very happy moments we had together and some not so happy ones. But there were more good moments than bad moments and I think I love her so much that I won't be able to live without her when she passes away. Many will think that I am a stupid, old, selfish and also depressing, but I can't stop saying how I feel about this person who has been with me all my life and who has always made me fall in love with her."

The last words that Alfonso entrusted to this virtual letter that he then wanted to share on the web are particularly moving; reading them, we all draw a very precious lesson on learning to love to the last, and not to be shy of kind words, hugs and kisses towards the people we love, before it's too late.

"Sometimes I get sad thinking lately that we are very old and that what we have will end one day. If we lived another life I swear I would look for her again until I find her!"

The words from this grandfather are a lesson that we all should learn to keep in our hearts: before it's too late, let's hug the people we love, let's tell them how much we love them and wish them well!
