Single father can't pay his grocery bill: a stranger in line offers to pay for it instead

As human beings, there are plenty of embarrassing situations we hope to never find ourselves in. We're talking about situations that, when they happen, we hope we could just disappear and never have to face the people who witnessed it again. Luckily, there are people out there who care when something bad or embarrassing happens to us. Some of these people even make it an attempt to help us or make our day better.

Sara Fleming is of of those people. When overhearing a father tell the cashier at the supermarket he didn't have enough money to pay for all of his groceries, Sara stepped in and offered to pay.

Sara was in line behind the man when she heard him tell the clerk that he didn't have enough money to pay for all of his groceries. He attempted to use his credit card a couple times, but each time his card was declined. It left the single father no choice but to start picking out grocery items that were too expensive for him to afford.

With the man were his two children, a teenage daughter and a younger son. Both of them looked extremely embarrassed by the situation and had no idea how to help their father to get out of it. That's when Sara knew she couldn't just stand by and watch this poor father remove food items that were meant to feed his children.

She inched closer to the man and said, "It doesn't matter if you don't have money: I'll pay for your groceries." Perplexed at first, the man turned towards Sara and just looked at her for a minute. Then, all of a sudden, he put his arms around Sara and bursted into tears. "I don't know how to thank you. I'm a single father and it's so hard getting through it alone," he said to Sara.

The man's grocery bill amounted to 94 dollars, and for Sara it was 94 dollars well spent. Once home, she gave herself some time to reflect on what had just taken place at the supermarket. To Sara, helping out that single father was not just a beautiful thing to do but a necessity. So many people in the world are doing the best they can to get by and many of them are struggling. If you're in a better situation than them, and can afford to help, think of the impact you can make on those less fortunate than you. We can certainly agree that the single father that Sara helped out will never forget how kind and generous she was. Way to go, Sara!
