In a historical moment where the Coronavirus has taken over the world by storm, it's nice to read every once in a while stories about people coming together and offering their loved ones and neighbors some moral support. It's even more moving to hear about people who, day after day, risk their own lives just to give their patients a fighting chance against the Coronavirus.

Tayla Porter is one of those people. As a 22-year-old nurse from Basingstoke, England, Tayla never expected to see all of her neighbors standing contemporaneously in their yards when she stepped outside her own house to leave for work.

It didn't take long for her to realize that they were all outside waiting for her. We all know how hard nurses have to work. Right now, they, along with other medical professionals, are risking their lives on the frontlines of the Coronavirus to give infected people the chance to recover. Even though it's a scary time in the medical field right now, Tayla and her colleagues around the world aren't going to let that stop them from saving lives.

For days now, people in England and Spain have been standing in their windows or stepping outside their balconies or porches around 8pm to cheer/clap for all the medical professionals currently fighting against the Coronavirus. When Tayla stepped outside her house around 4pm, leaving to go to work, her neighbors decided to skip the 8pm tribute and pay their gratitude then and there.

I just love where we live, everyone in our street united to wave Tayla off on her paramedic shift tonight just the boost she needed 🥰 The heroes chocolates and homemade cake were a lovely touch too xx We could hear the applause all the way up Queens Road too This video is exclusively managed by Kennedy News and media. When Tayla realized that they were paying tribute to her, she immediately bursted into tears. A nurse's work is often times taken for granted; it's an occupation that never gets the appreciation that it deserves. Perhaps it's time for the rest of us to show a little more appreciation for the nurses (and other medical professionals) in our community. They are, after all, working nonstop right now to keep us safe and healthy. Thank you, Tayla!
