Cody Byrd is the classic person who found himself in the right place—at the right time!

We could not use more appropriate words to describe the North Carolina student who prevented the kidnapping of an eight-year-old girl.

Guided by his instincts, Cody demonstrated that his first impression about what he saw was absolutely right!

Consequently, without thinking about it for too long, he had acted instinctively and in concrete terms, to stop what could have turned into a very unpleasant situation.

The entire episode had taken place in broad daylight—in a Biscuitville chain restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Looking at a 55-year-old man, later identified as Timothy Jon Fry—Byrd immediately realized that there was something strange about Fry's body language and behavior.

For Cody, it was something instinctive; he simply "understood" that something bad was about to happen. The reason?

According to the young man's story, the other man was paying unusual attention to an eight-year-old girl who was there in the restaurant sitting with her mother.

Cody watched the man, as he continued to stare at the young girl intently—too much to be just an ordinary observer.

And that is why Cody thought there was something suspicious about him.

Suspicions that almost turned into reality when, under Byrd's eyes, the 55-year-old man followed the young girl to the women's bathroom.

At that point, the young student decided to step in and confront the situation.

Trying to catch the girl's attention, Byrd had grabbed her and pulled her away from the reach of the man, to whom he immediately turned to ask for explanations.

Fry, clearly shaken and visibly nervous, quickly tried to get away and hurried to leave the fast-food restaurant.

So Byrd, without trying to physically stop Fry, took some pictures of the man and his car and called 911.

Thanks to the documentation provided to the police by the young man, it turned out that Fry had a history of lewd acts and drunk driving.

Consequently, local police officers were able to find Fry and pick him up to interrogate him about what had happened in the restaurant.

According to what emerged, Fry admitted that he was attracted to the eight-year-old girl and that he had intended to kidnap her.

Byrd, therefore, had been right! He had perceived almost instinctively—a situation of high potential danger.

For his action, he merited the heartfelt thanks of the girl's mother, as well as the Greensboro Police Department.

The Biscuitville chain has also publicly dedicated a "Good Citizen" award to Cody, offering him free breakfast for an entire year.

The young man, without false modesty, declared that he had only done his civic duty, by paying attention where and when it was needed.

All that remains is to congratulate this keen observer! Kudos to you, Cody!
