After the first ducklings come out of their shell, the female Mallard waits up to 24 hours before she stops sitting on her eggs to make sure that all of her ducklings have hatched and are out of their egg shell. Then, cautiously, she moves away from the nest taking her precious brood with her and moving back towards the nearest course of water where her mate should be waiting.

If, however, between the nest and the nearest course of water there is an entire city, as it was in this case, then things can get complicated! Fortunately, a special police unit in Saskatoon (Canada) intervened and accompanied the tiny "citizens" making sure that they arrived safe and sound at the river!
