Sometimes civil engineering technology and skills can go beyond even the most fervid imagination, as in the case of the Eshima Ohashi bridge in Japan. The colossal 144-foot-tall bridge was made without bracing or protruding structures, but this was not enough to avoid making it look more like a roller coaster than an actual bridge highway.

In any case, the slope of the incline viewed from some angles is truly amazing!  Nevertheless, in reality, the bridge features grades no steeper than 6.1 percent. Consequently, it is long lens photography that has exaggerated the incline of the bridge making it appear more dramatic than it is in reality!
