In this earthly life there are those who do their utmost every day to help others and bring a little relief to those who seem to have been born "less fortunate" than others. Father Omar Sánchez Portillo, a Peruvian priest, is one of these people. Being the director of a shelter for boys, girls, adolescents and the elderly located in Lurín, Lima (Peru), he is able to help many children and the elderly who have suffered injustice and mistreatment, and who have turned to him and his association. On his 51st birthday, Father Omar received what he himself would call a blessing: a newborn with Down's Syndrome was abandoned by his young mother and he didn't think twice about taking care of the baby himself.

Ismael is a 2-month-old baby who was abandoned by his young mother, a 17-year-old girl with alcohol problems and  untreated schizophrenia. A tiny human in need of affection and care, who fortunately met the good Father Omar on his way, who immediately offered Ismael a welcoming home. On his Facebook profile, the priest thanked the Lord for giving him this opportunity, as well as this immense gift: "Thank you for the gift you gave me Jesus, on my birthday! You never cease to amaze me, dear Jesus. Welcome. Welcome Ismael! Bringing you here from Cusco was an adventure, the first of many that we will live together ".
