It is unthinkable to harm a child, an innocent being who has not yet developed all the tools necessary to get by on their own, yet, in the world, there are some extremely mean people who take advantage of this natural fragility. This is why some news we encounter feels like a punch in the stomach: in Palawan, Indonesia, a mother abandoned her 8-year-old son on the street, leaving him with only a note written in pen, in which she apologized for his behavior. According to initial reports, the mother decided to abandoned him because the child was "bad" and caused too many problems for the family. Although the investigations into this affair are still ongoing and we do not know if these were the real reasons why his mother abandoned him, it is undeniable that the child was a victim of violence, probably by an abusive father.

The letter that the child held tight in his hands was nothing more than the heartfelt message of a mother who seems to have been "forced" to abandon her child. The reasons are not expressed clearly, but one sentence reads: "I am forced to leave you on the street because I am no longer willing to see you suffer or tortured because of your misdeeds, every day you cause some problems. Forgive me, my child. Take care of yourself." The point where she talks about not wanting to see him "suffer or tortured" seems to be hinting at a history of other kinds of violence in the child's life. The child, in fact, had some marks on his face and a cut on his cheek. The police, in gathering the facts, learned how the story unfolded shortly before his mother abandoned him.

It seems that that day, the child in question had a fight with his 2 siblings and beat them up. When the father found out, he went on a rampage and started beating the child as punishment. If the mother had not intervened, who knows what would have happened ... Although it is absolutely not a plausible justification, the mother may have wanted to "save" her son from the clutches of an evil man like his father; this certainly wasn't the right way to do it. The lonely child left at a gas station in the middle of the night immediately aroused some suspicion and the police began to investigate. Local authorities still have to shed light on the matter, but the only clear thing without a shadow of a doubt is that this child has unjustly suffered unprecedented violence.

No child should be deprived of their childhood!
