San Francisco is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the United States, thanks to its bays, eclectic architecture, its famous hills, and its cultural liveliness.

It is home to the most important biomedical centers in the country and is the economic, financial, cultural, and tourist center of the whole area.

Perhaps not everyone knows that San Francisco is one of the most expensive cities in the United States. It has been estimated that at least $123,000 a year is needed to live there comfortably, a figure that cannot be reached by everyone. While the city famous for its steep streets with hairpin turns is populated by the very rich in the downtown and tourist areas, the homeless population continues to grow day after day in the suburbs. Although San Francisco is not one of the most populous cities in the country, according to the latest census, it holds the primacy of homeless citizens throughout the United States!

There are about 7,500 homeless people, a fairly high number that prevents social services from being able to intervene as it should. These people live in very difficult conditions, without a safe place to spend the night and without a meal to consume. In this very delicate situation, there is a charity organization that is trying to help these people.

This organization is called is the Gubbio Project, a Catholic charity which offers a home to about 250 homeless people every night. The association makes available both the San Bonifacio Church and the San Giovanni Evangelista Church in the missionary district, that are being used as shelters for the needy. Anyone in difficulty is accepted by this association, without any kind of official request or access to the organization. Those who ask for help are helped and are given all kinds of assistance. From food to clothing to external health services, they are made available to those in need who are treated with the respect and humanity they deserve.

In the video attached at the end of this article, you can see the Gubbio Project in action and the testimonies of people who have found refuge in this charity. It's nice to see how these people are trying to change their lives thanks to the support and security that can give them a permanent home!
