Not all relationships are meant to last forever. People can change, move apart or simply take different paths. There are various reasons why a couple decides to split up and file for divorce.

Unfortunately, however, divorce affects not only the two parties involved: often the children are impacted too. This story tells of a rather singular episode that touched many.

It's no secret: in most divorces, resentment and frustration are always just around the corner. It's very difficult to maintain a "civil" relationship when you feel hurt and slighted. Certainly, there are lots of stories about, for example, child custody battles fought by a divorcing couple.

And time does not always heal all wounds. In the case of the subject in this story, 28 long years had passed.

The man's ex-wife had remarried and had two children from her new relationship. Then, one morning, the ex-wife's family noticed something bizarre in their garden - there was a "strange" man outside.

“This is my dad, mowing my mom’s lawn. They’ve been divorced 28 years. My mom has bad knees, and my step dad works out...

It was the eldest daughter, now 32, who recognized the man: "That's my father!", she exclaimed in disbelief as she tried to work out what was going on. And it looked like her father was... cutting the family's lawn!

"It's because he knows that mom needs his help," the daughter suddenly realized. And this was indeed the case: the ex-wife had a serious knee problem and her current husband worked out of town. Knowing this, her ex-husband, John, decided to help out without even being asked to.

Without being prompted, John turned up to mow his ex's garden. John's daughter, Cody, took photos of him doing this. She later posted the story to Facebook where she stated: "You don't need to be a saint to perform acts of kindness for others". Cody'stouching story about her dad's kindness has been shared on the social network more than 40,000 times.
