When a new mother reveals to a table full of friends that she is a professional homemaker, most likely she receives responses like "lucky you!" or "What luck!" from different people.  In fact, it is often believed that looking after children all day is little more than a cakewalk.

An interesting study, however, decided to investigate this aspect and discovered something that many had already suspected. Namely, that being a parent is an exhausting job, much more than going to the office every morning!

The research was carried out by the multinational Aveeno Baby that asked a series of questions which targeted about 1,500 couples who were new parents, and that produced some curious results.

As a matter of fact, 31% of the respondents (therefore, one in three parents) said that staying at home is much harder than going to the office. Something, which, before becoming parents, they had not suspected in the least. Furthermore, 22% also said they could not even drink a cup of tea completely; 33% complained that they never could eat using both hands; and 17% said that when staying at home with children, one must learn to live with a perpetual backache.

In short, even if the love parents feel for their children is irreplaceable and no one would dream of repenting of having set up a family, almost everyone has admitted that raising children is actually more difficult than they had thought.

To sum up, if you are a housewife, the next time someone tells you that you are lucky ... offer to exchange duties for a day!
