Some objects that we use every day have a recommended use different from what we have always known and from the one in which we have always used them.

In other cases, you will have noticed some apparently useless details, to which you have not been able to give yourself an explanation, but that actually have a reason to be there.

This and more you can find out by reading this article about the objects we have never completely used in the right way!

Few people know that the metal plate on the base of the stapler is used to staple sheets of paper in a different way. In particular, by rotating the base by 180°, it is possible to obtain points of a greater size.

Some smartphone battery models have a small square of fabric (actually only to the touch is it similar to fabric) whose purpose is to show moisture in the phone: when the device is too humid, and may therefore not work, the square becomes red.

On the keyboard of each computer, there are two lines in relief on the keys "F" and "J". They are there to indicate the right position of the hands when writing using the 10-finger touch typing technique.

On many cars, near the symbol of the gas pump, there is an arrow that can be directed to the right or left. This arrow indicates the position of the fuel tank cap, whether it is located on the right or left side of the car. This is very useful for those with different cars that have different fuel tank positions!

On a pair of jeans there are several metal rivets, however, nowadays they do not have a real purpose. In fact, currently, they are mostly a reference to the original jean models, but once they were used to reinforce the pockets to support the weight of heavy tools that were usually used by miners.

At the end of a tape measure, there is a notched metal plate with a hole. The first serves to mark a point on a surface without using pencils or pens and the second is used to hook the tape measure to a nail or a screw.

The hole between the flash and the rear camera is none other than a second microphone, which has the function of isolating the surrounding noise so as to obtain the result of making the voice of the speaker much clearer.

Many models of garlic squeezers have, at the end, a protuberance on one handle and a hole on the other. These two elements make the garlic squeezer also suitable for eliminating the seed from cherries.

There are several explanations for the presence of the recurved bottom on bottles of wine.

  • One of these concerns the difficulty that once was found in creating bottles with a flat bottom. It seems that the techniques of the past did not allow a bottle to be closed in any other way than to create a recess
  • Another explanation may be the fact that when wine ages, a sediment is formed which, thanks to the presence of the internal protuberance, remains on the bottom and is not diffused into the beverage.
  • Finally, it seems that the characteristic bottom of wine bottles has to do with etiquette. Waiters serving wine must pour it by wrapping their fingers around the bottom of the bottle without touching any other points on the bottle.

Some assert that we have always detached the famous post-its in the wrong direction. The problem is that by detaching the leaflet from top to bottom, this will result in a curved edge and the post-it will not adhere well to a surface, detaching itself easily. If on the other hand, it is detached by following the glue line, it will not curve and will remain glued to a surface for a longer time.
