Wait! Are you sure you want to throw that away?!

February 17, 2017 • By Shirley Marie Bradby

The historical period in which we now live is characterized by waste. In fact, many years ago, Italo Calvino had already written a book, "Invisible Cities" where he provided a very suggestive image of what is now our reality.

In the book, Calvino talks about Leonia, a city in which each day everything is thrown away and the next day is started again with all new products, while the landfills are full of semi-new objects.

It is easy to recognize in Leonia our own cities, and also our own houses. For this reason, whenever possible, we should always upcycle, reuse, and give a second life to objects that can still be used.

Do you need some ideas? Here are some great ideas for easy and creative upcycling!

Absolutely, do not throw away your bottle corks when you open bottles! You can use them to make protective pads for the floor.

What can you do with an old pair of jeans that you no longer use? You can make a very useful garden work belt for gardening, for example!

Speaking about gardening, look what you can make from detergent bottles. You can create a handy garden scoop!

It is a real a pity to throw away cans and containers ... especially when it is possible to transform them into a plastic bag dispenser!

Do you want to protect your smartphone while it is being recharged? Safeguard it by putting it in this plastic pocket made from a shampoo bottle!

The ideas that we have presented are just a small part of the many things that you can do with objects that are normally thrown away ... Therefore, the next time you find yourself in front of a waste container, you will wonder if you are doing the right thing!
