Relationships are by no means easy to manage - not even the one you have with the person you love the most in the world. Some may be "easier", others more difficult, but in the end you both have to work hard to be comfortable together, if you really want to. After 15 years of marriage, Emma realized that she and her husband were reaching the end of the line. The woman had enrolled in a marriage counselling course to save her marriage and, paradoxically, it was here that she met the man with whom she later remarried. Obviously, it wasn't her intention to fall in love with another man - in fact, she genuinely wanted to attempt to save her relationship. She didn't think she would fall in love with a man who was also on the verge of separating from his wife, but on the other hand, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Emma and Matthew Pruen first met at a marriage counselling session back in 2001. They both wanted to save their marriages and they both believed they could, at least at first. The two immediately became friends and, obviously, during this couselling course, they discussed their situations and that sharing helped to make them more and more close. For two years, they met during these meetings, until one day Emma realized that her marriage had finally come to an end. During a Christmas trip to Thailand, in a situation that should have been one of complete relaxation, without any external pressures, she and her ex-husband had managed to fight like never before. Upon returning from that trip, she received an email from Matthew, who had decided to separate from his wife after 20 years of marriage.

Matthew told Emma that he was planning to move to Spain, to help to heal and to decide what to do with his life after his separation - and it was then that Emma realized that she felt something more intimate towards her "friend".

She realized that she took the news of Matthew's move very badly. She realised she would have suffered terribly from missing him! Emma managed to convince Matthew to stay a little longer in England and to see each other for a couple of more meetings - and this is where the spark between the two of them ignited into flames of passion - not that the passion wasn't there before, but they were both still committed to their existing relationships at the time.

The two found themselves totally compatible and two years later, on the occasion of Emma's fortieth birthday, Matthew asked her to marry him. They have now been happily married for 16 years and have a 15 year old daughter together. This is a beautiful love story that shows how true love always finds a way.
