We have to admit it --- the perennial fight against insects that every summer threatens the serenity of our evenings in the open air is capable of bringing out the worst in us, sometimes forcing us to resort to drastic remedies

One of these remedies consists in luring these insects to traps in which they can enter but not exit, by simply exploiting particular odors.

The way to make one of these is really easy! Just get a plastic bottle and two ingredients that you surely already have in the kitchen, namely, brown sugar and yeast.

At the bottom of the bottle, pour about one cup (200 ml) of warm water then mix in 4-5 tablespoons of brown sugar, and a teaspoon of yeast.

When you have done this, you can take the neck of the bottle, turn it upside down, and insert it inside, in order to use it as a funnel.

Insects like flies and mosquitoes will feel attracted by the smell that the mix of ingredients will begin to emanate and, in all probability, will fly towards the bottle and enter through the bottleneck, but with little chance of finding the way out. Position the bottle in a place that is most useful for you!
