Why do images of young people photographing their body, to show to their circle of contacts, abound on social media?
Psychologists could certainly give a more detailed and complete answer, but almost certainly the concept of "self-esteem" is involved. The illusory one of those who feed off of the virtual appreciation they receive and the other one that is destructive for those who do not have a body that is beautiful enough to show off online.
The fact is that it is not even necessary to have a perfect body to publish photos on social media. In fact, some girls demonstrate that it all boils down to a question of light and position and all too often we believe everything that we see in front of our eyes.
