Remember the kid that smoked 40 cigarettes a day?
Since the web and social networks have allowed stories to circulate freely from all over the globe, we have become used to hearing all kinds ... Sometimes they have surprised positively but sometimes, as in this case, they have left us with some concern.
Many of you may remember the story of little Ardi Rizal, an Indonesian boy whose father had given his son a cigarette for "fun" at the age of 18 months, which had sentenced Ardi to a very early de facto smoking addiction.
The young Ardi had, in fact, started smoking and within two years at the impressive number of 40 cigarettes per day (see video at the bottom of the page).
In fact, we all know how children are able to imitate some adult gestures by repeating them compulsively.
Understandably, some associations moved to take away the parents' custody of the child.
But when they managed to reduce the number of cigarettes in the hope of releasing him from addiction, another problem appeared in his life.
As often happens in these cases, Ardi became addicted to food, especially junk food.
The result? As a teenager, Ardi suffered from depression, low self-esteem and was carrying about 40 kg of excess weight. But at least, he had stopped smoking . . .
Fortunately, however, psychological support and physical activity have done wonders. Now 10 years later Ardi is smiling again!
This child could have been a victim of the reckless conduct of his parents, but thanks to constant supervision he has succeeded in an enterprise that seemed impossible!
Here is the video for which became (sadly) famous. . . is he not a living miracle?
