A mattress is one of those things at home that never receives the proper care! This happens a little bit because we forget it and a little because we pretend not to remember - let's admit it!

However, it's time to give our mattress a good cleaning! Do you have any idea how much dust, dead skin cells, mites, and other dirt accumulate inside?

What's more, there is a very simple trick to do the job in no time! The ingredients? Baking soda and an essential oil of your choice.

The difference between the before and after can be appreciated with your eyes.

Here is what you need to clean your mattress:

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 4-5 drops of essential oil (e.g. lavender, it's delightful!)
  • A large jar
  • a strainer
  • a vacuum cleaner

 Procedure:

Put the baking soda in the jar and add the drops of essential oil then close the jar tightly and shake it to mix the ingredients. Pour the mixture through a kitchen strainer and "dust"  the mattress evenly.

Now you just have to let it sit for one hour and during this time the baking soda will disinfect the mattress penetrating into the fabric, while the essential oil will give it a delicate relaxing fragrance

After an hour, you can remove the baking soda by using a clean brush and a vacuuming cleaner. Now your mattress will be free from dirt --- and without having used any chemicals

This method does not only apply to mattresses! It is also excellent for cleaning fabric on armchairs, sofas, and cushions. Try it!

We advise you to repeat the treatment once a month, better if on both sides, to ensure a deeper cleaning!
