Sooner or later it happens to everyone and we must inevitably come to grips with it! We are talking about a clogged drain; maybe not a serious problem, but certainly a big nuisance.

It is not necessary to call a plumber and spend some of your hard-earned savings --- which would make the day even worse - and you can also avoid using harsh chemical products.

In fact, if the prospect of employing toxic chemicals in an area where you wash dishes, food, or yourself does not appeal to you, then here are some simple ecological remedies that can help you "unclog" the situation!

1. For the kitchen sink use baking soda, vinegar, and water

An old trick that has always been used with great success! Mix half a cup of baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar, pour the mixture into the clogged drain, followed immediately by four cups of boiling hot water. Very effective against grease and food particles.

2. For the shower use water and salt

Frightened by the idea of putting your fingers in the shower drain? Pour half a cup of salt, followed by plenty of boiling water. The salt will scour away all the scum you do not dare or want to see!

3. For a clogged pipe use dishwasher detergent

Pour about a half cup of dishwashing liquid into the clogged drain and leave it to stand for about half an hour. Then, pour half a pot of boiling water down the drain. Next, turn on the faucet and let the water run to make sure the drain is unclogged.

4. Ecological detergent for active enzymes

An alternative solution to home remedies is to buy an ecological detergent, free of toxic chemicals. These are excellent for the environment because they are based on enzymes which are biological compounds that accelerate chemical reactions. Therefore, they are not only eco-friendly but also super effective!

5. Kitchen sink strainer

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Buy a kitchen sink strainer and avoid the risk of annoying clogged drains! For the more foresighted individuals! ;)
