Lemons are not just sour-tasting fruits rich in vitamin C that are good on chicken and fish! Thanks to its chemical properties we can use lemons in many ways.

In addition to the various culinary uses, you can also use lemons to take care of your home and your body! All you need to do is discover the many different ways!

Of course, remember that a cold glass of lemonade is always the best remedy for thirst during the summer! But let's get to the other interesting ways to use lemons!

Alternative uses of lemons with foods


Prevents rice from getting lumpy. When cooking rice just add a spoonful of lemon juice to the boiling water and you will see that at the end of cooking there will be no lumps! 

Slows down the deterioration of fruit. If you happen to cut fruit and do not consume it, the slices will tend to oxidize, assuming a dark brown color. You can avoid this process by rubbing or sprinkling some lemon juice on the cut fruit, you will see that hours later, it will still be very appetizing! 

Revives lettuce. If the lettuce leaves for your salad are slightly wilted, just put the lettuce in a bowl of cold water and lemon juice, leave it to soak for an hour, then rinse the lettuce. You will discover how crispy your salad lettuce can still be!

Alternative uses of lemon at home


Lemons clean metal . Lemons contain citric acid that is great for removing grease and dirt from metal objects, especially because it does not attack the metal. To clean your silverware, just rub one lemon on the utensils, rinse, dry well, and polish with a soft, dry cloth. 

Cleans kitchen cutting boards . Sprinkle lemon juice on your wooden or plastic kitchen cutting board until it covers the entire surface and let it rest for at least thirty minutes. Then rinse off, and your cutting board will no longer have stains or bad odors. 

Deodorizes dishwashers. After squeezing a lemon do not throw it away! Put it in your dishwasher during the next wash cycle to eliminate any bad smells in the dishwasher. 

It is a natural degreaser. If a particularly delicious dinner leaves your pans greasy to the point that you can not easily clean them, then put them in hot water and lemon to soak for a few minutes. In fact, the citric acid in the lemon will help you get rid of the grease!


Alternative ways to use lemons for beauty and personal care


It is a natural disinfectantGargling lemon juice with a little water can relieve the burning and irritation caused by an inflamed throat. It can also be used pure without water for a stronger treatment. 

Whiten stained nails. Products that remove nail polish may leave yellow stains on the nails. To remove these stains, dip your fingers into a little lemon juice for a few minutes, then rinse and apply a moisturizer. 

Skin toner. If your skin is oily or greasy, you can use a cotton ball soaked in fresh lemon juice to remove the oily sheen and clean your skin.
