The village in which she lives (Rengo, Chile) is too poor to allow her to earn any money with her only source of income.

For this reason, for nearly fifty years, the ninety-year-old Elena Galvez has traveled 18 miles (30 kilometers) every day in the saddle of her trusted friend --- her bicycle!

Yes, she uses her infallible bicycle to reach the surrounding towns where she has more opportunities to sell her eggs and, when available, also the milk that her cows produce.

Mrs. Elena Galvez, unfortunately, lives in extreme poverty, but despite this and her advanced age, she has not lost her spirit, and every day she faces long cycling trips to sell her eggs.
