We usually use salt to enhance the flavor of food and for conservation, and we know that is also used as anti-freeze on icy surfaces.

However, there are many other ways to exploit it in the house, all incredibly useful. From daily chores to emergency situations, this very common compound can help us rapidly complete many tasks . . .


Salt can extinguish fires so make sure to have it on hand in the event of dangerous flare-ups or, worse if a fire breaks out.

Did you accidently break an egg on the kitchen counter? This mishap can be cleaned up by sprinkling salt on the sticky mess . Then, after 10 minutes you can remove everything with a towel without leaving a trace.

To remove grease from kitchen towels just leave them to soak in a basin overnight in a solution of water with at least 75 grams of salt.

To unclog a sink drain, pour 5 tablespoons of salt into the drain, then pour half a liter of white wine vinegar; wait 15 minutes and then pour a liter of warm water down the drain.

To remove burned food from the bottom of frying pans completely cover the bottom with a layer of salt and add a little water; let stand for 10 minutes and then just wash the pan!

Have you used a hot iron on the wrong fabric? You can remove the sticky burnt fabric as follows --- put a sheet of parchment paper on a wooden cutting board and sprinkle with salt, then pass the hot iron over the salt. Problem solved!
