In times gone by, it was thought that people who talked to themselves were a little "strange" and were looked upon with suspicion.

Often talking to one's self was considered to be a sign of mental instability or madness, as if the individuals who did this were talking to other "voices" in their heads. Yet talking to one's self --- is actually quite common, come on, admit it! --- so, it is not only normal, but it also has considerable benefits, according to science.

Analyzing our life by thinking out loud helps us to clear our heads. Especially at work, it helps us choose the right strategies and, in moments that are a little more particular, it helps us to feel better by simply talking out loud and expressing positive and encouraging thoughts about ourselves.

Talking to ourselves helps us to remember things better; kids who repeat their lessons thinking out loud learn in a shorter amount of time, and it helps to control the emotion that some children feel when called on to speak in front of the class.

In addition, analyzing projects or strategies while talking to one's self would help us to clarify the way to go to get the results we want. Thinking out loud increases intelligence because it stimulated the development of neurons. Moreover, it helps us to learn new concepts more easily and confidently.

It is very useful and beneficial to externalize negative thoughts that once spoken aloud, lose their power and can be assimilated in a more positive way.

In addition, those who talk to themselves are always in good company and never fall prey to loneliness!

Ultimately, thinking aloud and talking to one's self is a method that science recognizes not only as beneficial, but it also improves one's self-knowledge and is a welcomed and unexpected help in solving situations that would otherwise be very distressing.
