The art of painting on a water surface is called "Ebru" and it has ancient origins. There is no reliable information but it seems that it was born between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries in Turkey, although some trace its origins back to Eastern Asia.

This little known art, which has become fairly widespread today, consists of covering a water surface with acrylic paints diluted with turpentine.

The diluted acrylic paint colors are placed on the surface of the water with a brush or a thin, rigid support, such as a screwdriver for example. The amazing thing is that once the painting is finished it can be transferred instantly onto paper!

The name of the artist in the video is Garip Ay and he demonstrates his stunning Ebru art portrait painting of the famous artist, Van Gogh.
