14 pressure points to quickly rid the body of various types of pain and discomfort


Acupuncture is an age-old practice of traditional Chinese medicine that involves stimulating particular areas of the body with the aim of correcting and releasing energy flows in the body's energy network or channels called meridians.

In order to benefit from this discipline, it is not necessary to use the classic acupuncture needles because this energy can be activated in these channels just by touching precise pressure points aka acupressure.

Here are 14 pressure points to relieve pain and improve the health of the body by practicing acupressure.

  • Pericardium point. Its position is more or less three fingers away from the wrist, between the wrist tendons. Effective in cases of dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. 
  • "Yang" point. Excellent in case of foot cramps, tired eyes, headache, and also helps to improve concentration. To locate it, just calculate about four inches between the big toe and the second toe. 
  • "Palace of the wind" point. Its position is at the base of the head, in the recess under the skull. It is effective for blocking nose bleeds, relieving sore throats, and headaches.
  • "Tong Zi Liao" point. Useful to reduce eye fatigue and soothe headaches, it is located in the corner of the eye. In this case, it is recommended to rub slowly with the fingertips. 
  • Yongquan point. Prevents fainting, nausea, and all types of migraines. It is positioned on the sole of the foot, between the second and third toe. 
  • "The Triple Warmer" point. It is located approximately 7 inches above the wrist and reduces swelling in any part of the body. 
  • Third eye point. It is placed between the eyebrows, works well against depression, stress, corneal fatigue, and headaches.
  • "Union in the valley" point. It fights toothache, shoulder, neck and headache pain. It is located between the thumb and forefinger. 
  • "Kunlun Mountains" point. Relieve tension in shoulders, back, and neck. It is located between the Achilles tendon and the ankle bone. 
  • "Sea of ​​tranquility" point. Located in the middle of the chest, it relieves depression, anxiety, and overall emotional distress. 
  • Homeostatic point. It improves the functioning of the immune system, relieves colds, and sore throats. It is located in the curve of the elbow.
  • "Doors of consciousness" point. It treats dizziness and headaches, it is located at the base of the skull on the sides of the neck. 
  • "Three-mile point". It is located about 4 inches below the patella (kneecap), acts on the digestive tract relieving nausea, vomiting, and stomach pains. 
  • "Sea of ​​vital energy" point. Gives relief in cases of stomach pain and abdominal pain. It can be reached from both sides of the waist at about 4 fingers from the spine. 

There are many other pressure points with related therapeutic purposes, however, it is recommended to use this type of treatment as an integrative and not a substitute method for traditional medicine.
