The year 2016 began with an alarming incident! On the coasts of the German town of Toenning, 13 sperm whales died after being beached.

The first quick autopsy on their bodies determined that the cause of death was due to heart failure. However, a more thorough investigation led to the discovery of a distressing truth. The stomachs of these animals were full of plastic waste.

Probably, due to their large size, their deaths sparked a real scandal, but, just like them, every day many other marine animals die after ingesting plastic materials.

Although not talked about much, the pollution of the oceans caused by plastic materials is a problem that has reached such a grave level that it can no longer be postponed.

Currently, about 700 marine species are threatened by the presence of plastic waste! Many marine animals mistake this material for food and ingest them, causing serious consequences that can lead to physical impairment or death.

If action is not taken seriously on this issue, it is estimated that by 2050 there will be more pieces of plastic than fish in the oceans.

Anyone can help to reverse the direction of this disaster in the making, by first reducing the quantity of plastic waste material, by choosing alternative biodegradable materials, and promoting recycling.

These huge marine animals weigh from 12 to 18 tons and yet it only took a piece of plastic weighing a few ounces to destroy them.

Just by watching this video clip a few minutes it is enough to make ourselves aware of how plastic has colonized our world ... And how it is gradually destroying it little by little ...
