Panic attacks are invisible to the eyes of those who do not experience them and they can be imperceptible, yet they create a strong sense of unease in those who endure them.

Amber is a girl from Massachusetts and she was waiting for her flight at an airport when she suddenly started to feel sick. Another panic attack was in ambush.

Luckily, she was there with a friend who has over the years always helped her to overcome these difficult moments. Her friend's name is Oakley, he has four legs, and he will help you understand the importance of therapy dogs.

No one is aware of the fact that Amber is having a panic attack. Externally, it is impossible to see it. But for Oakley, her therapy dog, the onset of the panic attack does not go unnoticed.

Therapy dogs are trained to immediately detect minimal changes in the human body. In fact, they are able to quickly sense increases in temperature, heart rate, and breathing. All are symptoms of a panic attack.

While at the airport, Oakley had also instantly perceived all these symptoms and that is why he jumped up and started licking his owner and rubbing his body against hers. He rubbed his muzzle against her hands and arms to get her attention and distract her from the anxiety produced by her panic attack.

Once again, Oakley had managed to avoid the worst and make Amber feel calmer and more relaxed. Without Oakley, things would have gone very differently.

Therapy dogs like Oakley have a very important and vital role! These dogs dedicate their lives to the care of another living entity and they do it non-stop, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Without a day of rest.

There is no doubt that they are exceptional dogs to whom we owe a great deal of admiration and recognition!
